Every console needs a copy of this game!
Use Z or X to start the game.
Update 1.0.1:
Fixed bug where ghosts would get stuck.
Fixed bug where fruit would remain during the gameover sequence.
Added simulated AI bug.
Update 1.0.2:
Fixed death animation speed introduced from a runtime update. It's not perfect though since I have yet to figure out why it's even happening.
Wow what a nice port/remake/clone.
It reminds me a lot of the Gameboy Color port.
Love the demo mode, glad to see some games with a demo mode though that kinda goes with this sorta game anyway but still.
Amazing work, all the props.
Just needs sounds and some music bits though but beyond that a perfect port/remake/clone.
This looks great! How accurate is it? Do the ghosts actually have the different AIs? Also, does it replicate the AI bug in one of the ghosts? This page may be of interest: http://home.comcast.net/~jpittman2/pacman/pacmandossier.html
Hey Ivoah, I used that site as a reference for designing the AI so I'd say it's pretty accurate. I didn't replicate the AI bug. It would be trivial to add though.
Thanks for the nice comments guys! PICO-8 def makes building games more fun!
Hey Siapran, I couldn't think of any parody names myself so I just pulled random names from the forums. :D
Nope sorry Jauq I forgot to add extra lives, I just kinda worked on this on and off without any kinda of plan except the pacman dossier, and I didn't make a checklist. I could always add it later when I get time.
I tried adding sounds earlier, but I couldn't get anything that sounded right. :P
What's been changed:
-Added sounds (I think I nailed the intro theme!)
-Extra Lives (Every 10k points, and can only have a maximum of 5)
-Less Dynamic Camera (Prevents motion sickness)
-Multiplayer Mode (Sort of Co-op)
-Highscore Saving
-Added "Refreshed" subtitle to reflect changes
The reason why is here: (Games, but Refreshed!)
I just noticed that some of the animations no longer work at the correct speed. The death animation in particular. A change to the runtime must have broken it.
I'll have to pop open the code at some point and fix that.
UPDATE: Should be mostly fixed now.
With smaller graphic resolutions comes greater coding to compensate, UrbanMonk.
In your case, instead of shrinking the graphics you decided to keep them at the same size - AND add one wicked cool scroller that stays on top of all the action !
NICELY DONE !
I'm apparently late to this one, but I just wanted to say that I enjoyed playing this. It handles really smoothly and feels like the original to me. Good work!
